Lindsay Ann Burke Memorial Fund: Supporting the Prevention of Relationship Violence

2010 Teen Dating Violence Poster Contest

The Lindsay Ann Burke Memorial Fund is pleased to announce its 2010 Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Poster Contest for Rhode Island high school students.

This year’s theme is “Healthy Relationships,” focusing on the Qualities of a Healthy Relationship . Given the alarming teen dating violence statistics, it is essential to educate teens about healthy vs. unhealthy relationships. Education provides our teens with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to determine if their relationships are healthy or abusive, and to help themselves and others. Education is a key factor in decreasing the incidence of teen dating violence.

Generally, the first week of February is designated as National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week.” We are sponsoring this poster contest as a means of raising awareness of teen dating violence during the month of February. *The Grand Prize winner will receive $350.00 and 2 Runners Up will receive $100.00 each. The winning poster will also be made available to Rhode Island high schools.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Judging will be based on originality, creativity, and development and reflection of the theme “Healthy Relationships”. As a resource, visit www.chooserespect.org/scripts/teens/healthy.asp for information on qualities of a healthy relationship.
